An interesting survey

tenlittle.jpgPublishers Weekly recently asked children's booksellers to choose their favorite -- and sometimes not so favorite -- books of 2008. There were a few surprises for me in their choices.

I agree with their favorite picture book-"10 Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes," by Mem Fox.
The illustrations by Helen Oxenbury of chubby little babies from all ethnic groups are just adorable.

I also agree with "The Hunger Games" by Suzanne Collins as their favorite novel of the year. We've had several posts about the book on this blog. They also chose this novel as their best novel for young adults that adults would love if they knew about it.

What I am most interested in though are the titles of books that I haven't seen yet. Bookstores get a lot more titles than public libraries do. The public library system might have every title on this list, but I doubt that all of them could be found in one library.
I'll be paying a visit to my local Borders, list in hand, to check out some of these titles.

The full survey can be found here.
