In preparation for the July release of the next Harry Potter movie, I decided to re-read "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince." It was a good thing I did.
When the book was published in 2005, I rushed to buy it, read it immediately, and finished it over the course of a weekend. Reading it that quickly there were things I passed over, and this time around I was determined to take my time.
Well, that was a good plan, but J.K. Rowling is such a good writer that you get sucked right into the story, and you can't take your time. Even the second time around! This was the story where Harry realizes that it's Ginny he's interested in, where Horcruxes are defined and sought, and where Dumbledore -- well, if you've read the book you know what happens. If you haven't read the book, I won't spoil it here for you.
If this movie is anything like the last one, a re-reading of the book will definitely help when watching this movie. My son, who is a fan of the movies but doesn't read the books, was a bit lost while watching the last one.
Great idea. I'm going to put this on my to-do list.
