racing.jpgA review of "The Art of Racing in the Rain" from Nancy Duncan, children's librarian at Red Land Community Library:

Ever wonder what your dog is thinking? This book will answer that question.

Enzo is a terrier mix convinced that when he dies he will be reborn as a man. Enzo lives with Denny, a race car driver who has a day job as an auto mechanic. Denny marries Eve and they have a daughter named Zoe. Everything is going along well until Eve becomes ill. Then everything goes terribly wrong for Denny.

Enzo is the narrator of this book, and he admits that he might be speculating when describing certain events. Enzo watches a lot of television when home alone, so he is able to fill in the blanks of events he doesn't actually attend.

Enzo is a steadfast and loyal companion to Denny during this difficult time.
Some of Denny's bad luck strains belief, but it is Enzo, not Denny, who is the true hero of this book.
