New Civil War book from Scott Mingus

flames.jpgWest Manchester Township author Scott Mingus will talk about the updated and revised edition of his 2009 book, “Flames Beyond Gettysburg,” at a launch party at 2 p.m. Feb. 27 at The York Emporium used book and curiosity shop, 343 W. Market St. in York.
He will also sign copies, which will be available for purchase. The event is free and light refreshments will be served.
In his book, Mingus details events that took place on the eve of the battle of Gettysburg, including the “surrender” of the city of York and the burning of the Wrightsville bridge.

    Among the topics of interest to York Countians is a detailed account of the cavalry raids on Hanover and Hanover Junction, as well as the destruction of the railroads in this area. There are more than 50 new stories in this book that were not included in previous editions.
