If you’re headed to Dillsburg Area Public Library tonight for the “Day One of the Battle of Gettysburg” program, enjoy! Then, mark your calendars for another history presentation at Dillsburg in December.
Scott Weidensaul, author of “The First Frontier: The Forgotten History of Struggle, Savagery and Endurance in Early America,” will speak at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 4, focusing on how Native Americans and arriving Europeans clashes along the East Coast.
The book covers an “older, wilder, darker period,” according to Weidensaul. He’ll explain the struggle to conquer the land between the Atlantic Ocean and the Appalachian mountains — “fought over by many cultures who considered the land theirs and worth dying for.”
The program is free and open to the public; the library is at 17 N. Baltimore St., Dillsburg. For details call 717-432-5613 or visit www.yorklibraries.org/dillsburg.
