Head to independent bookstore Hearts & Minds on Dec. 14 for an evening with Dallastown author Richard Cleary.
Cleary will be reading from, discussing and signing copies of his recent release, “In the Absence of God,” “a philosophical novel set amidst the ideological and cultural conflicts on a modern college campus,” according to a release.
Formerly the head of the science department at Dallastown Area High School and a football coach for the Wildcats, Cleary is now an adjunct philosophy professor at York College, Messiah College and Lancaster Bible College. “In the Absence of God” is his second novel.
“Dick has been a friend of the bookstore for nearly 30 years,” Hearts & Minds owner Byron Borger, said in the release. “He’s a born teacher, and this book is one more example of his effort to explain complex ideas in creative ways. It is fitting to host him this month, as the start of our own anniversary year here at the shop, celebrating what good books can do in helping us think and care about the world in which we live.”
The event begins at 7 p.m. at Hearts & Minds, 234 E. Main St., Dallastown. Books will be available for purchase and refreshments will be served. Call 717-246-3333 for details.
