Several York County libraries and schools are offering events for Read Across America week, which culminates on Saturday, March 2. The nationwide event to promote literacy is sponsored by the National Education Association.
- York Haven Elementary: “Seuss-tastical” night from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 25. Administrators, school board members and retired York Haven teachers will guest read to families. There will be food and other reading activities.
- Northeastern High School: Read Across America Night at Friendly’s Restaurant from 5 to 8 p.m. Feb. 27 (423 Loucks Road, Manchester Township). Some of the proceeds will help the National Honor Society.
- Arthur Hufnagel Public Library of Glen Rock: Seuss and Donuts Open House, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. March 2. Donuts will be provided, along with an endless variety of Dr. Seuss books to read and share.
- Martin Library: A celebration of Read Across America day and a birthday party for Dr. Seuss, with stories, snacks and a visit from the Cat in the Hat, 10 a.m. March 2.
- Red Land Community Library: Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Celebration story time with songs and birthday cake, 10:30 a.m. March 4.
