York County Heritage Trust’s annual journal focuses on Civil War

York County Heritage Trust 2013 journalYork County Heritage Trust will release the fourth edition of the Journal of York County Heritage Sept. 20, focusing this year on the 150th Civil War anniversary.

The Trust described its process in a press release:

“An exhibit advisory committee, in conjunction with Trust staff, scoured documents and researched artifacts to meld a more cohesive understanding of York County during this traumatic period. The efforts resulted in two articles: ‘To Surrender the Town Peaceably,’ an essay by Victoria Allen, and an introduction to The Fiery Trial Exhibit written by Dan Roe. Rebecca Anstine rounded out the research by exploring one of the little-known, yet fascinating stories entitled ‘African-American Civil War Veterans with ties to York County, Pa.’”

Copies are $6.95 each and will be available at the York County Heritage Trust’s Museum Shop, 250 E. Market St., York. The first three editions will also be available at a discount.
