Vote for York County Libraries’ 2014 One Book, One Community pick

One Book One Community vote 2014Have you been reading the 2013 One Book, One Community selection?

The community-wide program, launched in 2004, encourages readers in several counties — this year, York, Berks, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon and Perry — to borrow the book from their local libraries and discuss it with friends, family and neighbors.

This year, it’s “The Cellist of Sarajevo” by Steven Galloway.

For 2014, changes are coming to the program — and the public now has a chance to vote. The book selection committee has narrowed the choices to three titles:

Still Alice by Lisa Genova

From Oct. 1 through Oct. 31, readers in York, Berks, Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon and Perry counties can vote online through www.oboc.org, in person at their local libraries or at Isaac’s Restaurant locations in the region. The winner will be announced before Thanksgiving.

"Blue Cascade" by Mike ScottiThe 2014 One Book, One Community programming will then begin in February, to coincide with Library Lovers’ Month and Book Lovers’ Month.

Of course, as you read up on the 2014 options, don’t forget that programming and discussions surrounding “The Cellist of Sarajevo” begin Sept. 26. Find a full listing of programs here.
