You can’t choose who you love, right? Well, that turns out to be not so great for Jazzy Williams, who has a big-time crush on a not-so-human guy at her high school in “True Connection.”
West York author Rachel Walter released the novel, the first in her Soul Mate Series, in July. She shared about the novel and how the idea came to be.
Name: Rachel Walter
Lives in: West York
Family: Husband, three stepchildren, daughter
Hobbies: Hockey, music, reading and nature
Tell us about the book: Jazzy Williams is not your average coffee-loving teen. She’s battling depression, an overprotective big brother and a depressed mother, all while trying to make friends at her new school. In the first week, she meets a gorgeous green-eyed hottie who turns out to be more than just some high-school crush — he’s more than human.
And, she unknowingly enrages a dangerous breed of demon who wants her soul and life as payment. With the help of supernatural friends and protectors, Jazzy thinks she’s safe until what remains of her family is put in danger. Does Jazzy have what it takes to save her family, life, soul and soul mate, or will all be lost?
How did you come up with the idea?: One night a family member was telling me about this crazy dream they had the night before. After hearing about it, I just couldn’t let go of some aspects of their dream. A few nights later I started writing.
If you go: Walter will sign copies of “True Connection” from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 7 at Irvin’s Books, 2159 White St., West Manchester Township. Copies are also available through online booksellers. Read more about Walter at rachelwalterauthor.blogspot.com.
