The beloved and iconic film “The Wizard of Oz” is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. Enjoy local festivities as the Art Association of Harrisburg hosts two area authors — Jay Scarfone and William Stillman, who recently published “The Wizard of Oz: The Official 75th Anniversary Companion” — for a discussion of both movie and book at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 6., 21 N. Front St.
According to a press release, Scarfone and Stillman will speak about ” the creation and legacy of the beloved motion picture”:
Published by Harper Design, an imprint of HarperCollins, this hardcover coffee table book was created in cooperation with Warner Bros., and contains newly uncovered facts about the making of “The Wizard of Oz” accompanied by rare photographic imagery from the authors’ personal archives. Because Scarfone and Stillman turned up an unprecedented amount of fresh material regarding the Oz film, numerous images went unpublished due to space limitations. Not only will attendees of the Art Association’s gathering be treated to the vast imagery included in the finished volume, they will also be given a special glimpse of photos that went unpublished.
A $10 donation is requested at the door. Contact the Art Association at 236-1432 for more information, or visit www.artassocofhbg.com.
