Being an ardent reader can become costly when buying books at retail bookstores. Some of us have favorite older books, series, or authors not easily found in bookstores where the shelves are stocked with more current authors and titles. The public library may fill our needs to some degree. However, to maintain a current collection for patrons, libraries must periodically purge older, less read books.
