Talking Santa app to the rescue

So you’re at a restaurant with the kiddos waiting for a table. They’re fussy and you’re fussy because they’re fussy and you get fussier when you think about the wad of cash you’ll spend on a dinner that no one will enjoy because, well, everyone’s fussy. (Whew, long sentence!)
And you used that Santa’s-watching threat so many times that as soon as you say “You better” the kids finish the sentence with “watch out” and proceed to tell you they don’t care if Santa’s watching because, well, they’re sure he’ll cut them some slack.
Apps to the rescue! (Hey, maybe this could be a new superhero.)
“Do you want to see him?” you asked as you dig out your Droid from the mountain of motherhood stuff in your suitcase of a pocketbook (all the time thinking back when everything could fit into a clutch).

Suddenly, a sweet silence falls as you touch the screen and launch the Talking Santa app you recently read about on this blog. (Smiles)
Seriously, it’s a cute app that might come in handy when you’re trying to keep the kiddos calm or you need something to do while you wait in those long lines to pay for all those Christmas presents that the kids will be bored with after two days.
When you launch the Talking Santa app, you hear sleigh bells and see Santa and his sack of toys fall from the sky.
When you press the milk and cookies button, a red sleigh pulls up with cookies and milk. Watch as Talking Tom (another free app; see below) sneaks in and grabs the glass of milk.
Touch Santa and he “Ho. Ho. Ho’s.” Touch the sack and out pops a gift. Each time you touch the sack, a different gift pops out. One time, I got gold bars (Ka-Ching!). Another time, a stuffed teddy bear.
You can tickle and poke Santa and if you really want to be naughty, you can touch the snowball and watch as a big boulder mows Santa over. But don’t worry, he gets right back up. Oh, almost forgot, Santa repeats whatever you say so go ahead and say “You better watch out.” Maybe then the kids will listen!
Another free talking app to check out include Talking Tom. I not a cat lover, but this virtual cat app is pretty cool. You can pet him, poke him, grab his tail. Oh, and always the fun part, he repeats what you say in a funny voice.
