When I was a kid, my family ran the snack stand at a drive-in. I remember it as if it were yesterday. My older sisters ran the cash registers. My mom made the fries and hamburgers. I helped fill the soda cups. At intermission, people would flood the snack bar for eats.
These memories came rushing back when I saw today’s Google Doodle. It celebrates the anniversary of the first drive-in movie theater. Richard Milton Hollingshead Jr. invented the drive-in and the first one opened in New Jersey on June 6, 1933.
