OK, it's Monday -- the day before the big Hillary Clinton rally in Harrisburg.
I've made arrangements to meet up with some local Democrats there. These things are always chaotic, so we have each other's cell phone numbers. In God we trust, all others pay cash.
I wonder what the turnout will be. About 25,000 people showed up to see John Kerry in Harrisburg in July, 2004. But that was on a Friday night. And as I recall, supporters had some time to prepare.
The Clinton campaign put this one together in a hurry. And it's at noon on a weekday, sandwiched between Clinton appearances in Scranton and Philadelphia, so I doubt she'll get as many people. Then again, all the publicity surrounding this race might bring supporters out in droves -- workday be damned.
It initially looked like a couple of high-profile Clinton supporters would have to miss seeing her because of a work conflict: Governor Rendell and state Rep. Eugene DePasquale, D-West Manchester. Tomorrow's a session day, and they have a press conference scheduled for 11 a.m.
But DePasquale gave me a call this afternoon. He said that Clinton has apparently set aside some time tomorrow morning to meet with state lawmakers who support her. This will be DePasquale's first time meeting her, and he sounded pretty psyched.
I guess I'll find out about the turnout tomorrow. And so will you, when I give you a full report.
