IT'S PRIMARY DAY! WHEEEEE!

OK, here we are. Primary Day.

I must admit that I'm a bit disgruntled. I asked my supervisors if I could have the day off because, hey, I could use some quality Playstation time. They gave me an emphatic "no." Fascists.

So anyway, I understand that part of my job tonight is to provide periodic blog entries on what's going on around the county. For now, I can sum it up in a single word -- plenty.

Before I arrived at the office this afternoon, I took a drive around downtown York. I haven't seen this much political activity since the Kerry-vs.-Bush presidential campaign, when York County's location in a swing state made it the political equivalent of beachfront real estate.

And I've certainly never seen this level of activity for a primary race. I'm sure the activity will get even more intense in the hours between county residents' evening commute home and the polls (supposedly) closing at 8 p.m.

Anyway, I'll keep you all updated as things progress.

Also, we may be exploring a variation of the "special guest star" concept -- kind of like when Fonzie used to show up on "Laverne and Shirley." York Daily Record columnist Mike Argento may have a few postings on my blog, chronicling his no-doubt distinctive observances of what's going on.

It just occurred to me that I'm basically having Mike Argento over at my place. I hope I get my security deposit back.
