Saylor meeting
I'm always getting press releases from local state lawmakers about upcoming events they're sponsoring.
So just now, I got this radical idea. Those e-mails are about local politics. And this blog is about local politics. What if -- stay with me, here -- I posted those press releases on my blog? Good Lord! That's just crazy enough to work! OK, here's one I got today from state Rep. Stan Saylor, R-Windsor Township. Usually, we edit these down for size in our newspaper, when we run them in those columns of two- or three-paragraph news items called "briefs."
Since I've got more space to work with here, and since it's not oppresively long, I might as well run this in its entirety.
I think I'm setting a new precedent for this blog, here. Man, I love it when other people do my work for me!
State Rep. Stan Saylor, R-Windsor Towenship, is inviting residents of the 94th Legislative District to join him at the Hopewell Township Building on Thursday, June 19, for a town hall meeting. Saylor plans to provide updates about issues before the Legislature -- including energy, property taxes and the state budget -- and also answer questions from constituents.
“It’s important to report back to the people I am elected to represent,“ Saylor said. “Town hall meetings like this one give me a chance to share information with local residents. Perhaps more importantly, they give me an opportunity to listen to the thoughts and concerns of people throughout our district. I have always thought that a good legislator must be a good listener.“
The town hall meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the Hopewell Township Building located at 3336 Bridgeview Road in Stewartstown. The meeting is free and no reservation is required.
“There is a lot going on in our state Capitol and also in our own communities,“ Saylor said. “I look forward to the opportunity to talk about the progress we’re making, both in Harrisburg and in York County.“
The 94th Legislative District includes the townships of Chanceford, East Hopewell, Fawn, Hopewell, Lower Chanceford, Lower Windsor, North Hopewell, Peach Bottom, Windsor and York. It also includes the boroughs of Cross Roads, Delta, East Prospect, Fawn Grove, Felton, Red Lion, Stewartstown, Windsor, Winterstown and Yorkana.
