Debate Friday

| | Comments (1)

The latest I've seen is that John McCain wants to postpone Friday's debate and focus on the financial crisis.

First the hurricane during the Republican National Convention, now this. As I mentioned in a previous entry during the Republican National Convention, I think the McCain campaign can use that sort of thing to their advantage.

McCain has been trying to present himself as the man with the experience to meet challenges, as opposed to his charasmatic but relatively inexperienced opponent. (A drum that he's been considerably more reluctant to beat since Sarah Palin became his running mate.)

I'm not suggesting any of this was calculated. McCain can't exactly plan a financial crisis, much less a hurricane. Even if you don't support his candidacy, he's not a James Bond villain. I'm just saying that the opportunity to deal with a crisis while the spotlight is on him anyway could certainly benefit his campaign.

Well, the debate is now on. What is just so interesting is that McCain supposedly suspended his campaign only to now come out with a political message. He claims that his arrival in Washington helped focus the debate while Obama just postured. What a crock. He arrived there and admitted he had not yet read the plan or the plan of the Republican conservatives, a lot of help he could offer. So he used his appearance in Washington as a political ploy. And last night while his campaign was supposedly suspended I saw two McCain ads on TV.
