Lotsa stuff brewing around York County these days. Here are just a few of the things going on.

I'll probably cover the Republican dinner. I'm looking forward to hearing the speakers. I wonder who the local Democrats will get for their annual fall dinner.

Well, you'll find out as soon as I do.

Obama Works presents "Ba-Rock the Vote," a community service event, from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 4) at Small Memorial A.M.E. Church, 401 S. Queen St., York.

All are welcome to join in this family-friendly open mic party. The entrance fee is one or more canned goods to be donated to Neighborhoods United Community Resource Center.

Voter registration will be available, as well as a voting booth to familiarize first-time voters. The event will also feature a book signing by Voni B. Grimes of his new memoir "Bridging Troubled Waters."

Obama Works is a national grassroots volunteer organization which has harnessed volunteer efforts around Barack Obama's presidential bid by organizing public service events that bring volunteers together to improve their neighborhoods. For more information, visit www.obamaworks.com.
