Wolf going for governor

| | Comments (0)

The other shoe dropped this morning.

Back when York County resident and prominent local businessman Tom Wolf resigned as state secretary of revenue in November, he said he was doing it to "pursue another option in public service."

I figured that translated into two possibilities:
1) Putting on a mask and a cape, and fighting crime.
2) Running for governor, like pretty much everyone in Harrisburg expected him to.

Sure enough, Wolf filed the papers with the Pennsylvania Department of State this morning that allow him to raise and spend money as a candidate.

I spoke to him on the phone this morning. He's not making his "official announcement" yet. First he wants to assemble his campaign team, then come out with a more conspicuous venue for the big announcement.

But to his credit, Wolf didn't try any of that cagey, will-neither-confirm-nor-deny routine either. No question about it, he's throwing his hat into the ring.

As his home county, of course, we'll have a unique vantage point on the upcoming race. Personally, I have every intention of covering this like a rug.

Keep reading. It should get interesting.
