It's snowing outside as a write this. But I just got the first sign of the coming spring. And I'm not talking about a daisy or a robin.

GETTYSBURG, Pa.-The Adams County Democratic Committee has announced three petition-signing parties during the next week in anticipation of the March 10 deadline for local primary elections, which have been set for May 19.
Petition parties take place in Hanover, Fairfield and New Oxford, according to Roger Lund, chair of the county Democratic committee.
"Once again we are reaching out to the Adams County community in an effort to get involved," Lund said. "The public is invited these parties to meet many of the qualified and dedicated candidates we offer this year."
Among the guests at each event will be the candidates for the Adams County District Court, Kristin Rice and Thomas Miller, according to Lund. Other judicial candidates are expected to attend some of the parties.
In addition, County Treasurer Terry Adamik plans to attend. The petition signings will feature candidates who are registered Democrats, but all are invited.
The signings are:
7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 20, at the Readers Café 125 Broadway in Hanover for the Southeastern District of the Adams County Democratic party; Derf Maitland, chair. RSVP readerscafe@embarqmail.com.
