There was a lot of recognition happening at Wednesday night’s York City School Board meeting.
A Smith Middle School family was honored in what will soon become a regular monthly featured called “Celebrating Families.”
The Drummond family — mom Stephanie and girls Niyah and Miyah — were given a certificate and a fruit basket by the board and Parent Advocates for Children. Niyah and Miyah attend the STEM program at Smith. Stephanie Drummond says she has three older children who are attending college. Read more about the family here.
PAC is letting the schools choose the families, said co-president Dawn Squire.
The board also recognized several other groups: the William Penn Senior High music department and its programs, the Performing Arts Institute, and the winners of the Keep York Beautiful contest.
