Author to discuss book about 1969 Penn State murder

A York College alumnus will discuss his book on the unsolved 1969 murder of a Penn State graduate student at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 27.

The free event will take place in the lower level of the Schmidt Library.

Derek Sherwood, a 2000 graduate with a history major, will discuss “Who Killed Betsy?: Uncovering Penn State University’s Most Notorious Crime,” according to a news release.

Sherwood theorizes that Rick Haefner, a geologist and Lancaster native who died in 2002, stabbed 19-year-old Betsy Aardsma to death.
