Full scholarships are available for south central Pennsylvania students to study abroad in 2012, according to a news release.
The scholarships are offered by AFS-USA, a nonprofit student exchange organization, through the Speedwell Study Abroad Scholarship Program. Students can spend a year overseas, the news release says.
Recipients will be selected based on academic achievement and interest in intercultural learning.
Thirty scholarships are available for students from central Pennsylvania counties, including York County, the release says.Students can choose from 40 countries.
The Speedwell Foundation was founded by Jenny and Michael Messner, the release says. Jenny Messner was born in Lancaster County and spent a year in Brazil with AFS. Last year, the foundation sent 19 students from Lancaster and Lebanon counties to nine different countries.
