Thinking about running for school board? This meeting is for you.

A panel discussion, “What You Need to Know About Serving on a School Board,” will be held at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at York Suburban Middle School, according to a news release.

Anyone considering running for school board seats in the spring 2013 primary is invited to attend. The discussion will involve board members from several area school districts.

Topics will include: how to file and circulate nominating petitions; timelines, the amount of time involved in serving on a school board, “good boardsmanship,” board-superintendent relationships, and partnership with the Lincoln Intermediate Unit.

The release says those scheduled to participate are: Jennifer Clancy, York Suburban School Board member; Eric Wolfgang, Central York School Board member; Michael Thew, Lincoln Intermediate Unit director; and Pamela Price, of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association.

York Suburban Supt. Kate Orban will also be on the panel, and said school board members from other districts are expected to participate, the release says.

The session will also be of interest to community members and current school board members, the release says.
