The Spring Grove Area Educational Fund recently awarded mini-grants totaling $5,775 to eight teachers and a high school science team, for projects in a variety of areas including science, reading, music and fitness, at all school levels, according to a news release.

The grants include:
- $1,000 to develop a fourth grade “Book Club 4Boyz”
- $500 for support of the high school student book club
- $400 for a video conference and writing workshop with children’s author Paul Volponi
- $1,000 for the Spring Grove Intermediate School Steel Drum Ensemble
- $375 for an indoor garden project at Spring Grove Area Middle School
- $1,000 for the NASA Student Launch Initiative at the high school
- $500 for addition of nutritious snacks at annual Elementary Family Fitness Night
- $1,000 for revamping the New Salem Elementary School courtyard into an outdoor learning area
