Elizabethtown College uses social media to spread college acceptance excitement

Elizabethtown College has found a way to spread the excitement of college acceptance through social media.

Last year, the college redesigned its acceptance packet and invited those accepted to share the news on social media. This year’s packets, which started going out about a month or so ago, included more social media outlets and a hashtag to use, said Donna Talarico, integrated marketing manager.

They’ve been gathering those tweets using Storify. So far, about 57 prospective students have tweeted about their acceptance.

“It’s such and exciting moment when you get that big acceptance packet in the mail,” Talarico said. Many students were probably using social media to spread the word anyway, but this way, they’re tagging it so that the college can find it. It helps build excitement, she said.

“It’s really fun,” Talarico said.
