Workshops for school board candidates scheduled

A series of regional full-day workshops for 2013 Pennsylvania school board candidates are being held around the state in February.

The workshops are being conducted by the Education Policy and Leadership Center, with the help of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association and the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials, according to an email about the events.

They’re open to incumbents, non-incumbents, campaign supporters and interested voters. Registration is $45, which includes coffee, doughnuts, lunch and materials.

The workshops will be held 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.:

  • Feb. 2 — Montgomery County Intermediate Unit, Norristown
  • Feb. 9 — PSBA Headquarters, Mechanicsburg
  • Feb. 23 — DoubleTree Hotel Pittsburgh/Monroeville

The agenda includes legal and leadership roles of board members, state and federal policies, school district finances, and candidates and the law.
