York City School District financial recovery meetings scheduled

David Meckley, the York City School District’s chief recovery officer, has scheduled several meetings related to the district’s financial recovery process, according to a news release.

Two public meetings have been scheduled for 6 p.m. Feb. 4 at the district administration building, 31 N. Pershing Ave., York, and 6 p.m. March 14, at Martin Library, 159 E. Market St., York. At the first, Meckley will discuss the process he will follow in developing an academic and financial recovery plan for the district and listen to community suggestions and concerns, the release says.

Meetings have also been scheduled for the advisory committee working with Meckley. The committee will meet Jan. 30, Feb. 13, Feb. 28, March 13, March 27, April 10 and April 24. Those meetings, which are also open to the public, will be held at 6 p.m. in the board room of the district administration building, the release says.

A website for the financial recovery efforts has been started at www.ycsdrecoveryplan.org.

The state’s financial recovery law requires Meckley to craft a recovery plan with 90 days of the district being declared in financial recovery, which would be March 12, according to the news release. But an extension can be granted by the state. Advisory committee meetings have been scheduled through April so that work can continue if an extension is requested and granted.
