It seems it’s always a question, whenever York City school issues are being discussed.
When will we hear about New Hope?
It was asked again last week at a Community Education Council meeting.
For background: The York City School District denied renewal of New Hope Academy Charter School’s charter in summer 2012. The charter school appealed to the state Charter Appeal Board nearly a year ago. The charter school gets to remain open during appeal.
Jeff Gettle, the school district’s solicitor, said that Allison Petersen, the district’s attorney on charter school matters, has requested the matter be scheduled for oral arguments during the Charter Appeal Board’s Sept. 24 meeting. But it hasn’t yet been put on that agenda, so it could be pushed to the October meeting, he said at the meeting.
In the meantime, there’s never a shortage of legal documents in this case, and here are the latest. New Hope filed a brief in July, followed by a York City School District brief in August, and then a reply brief from New Hope in September.
The documents make arguments on the various points we’ve already heard in the debate over the charter school. Read them below.
