Man who allegedly terrorized the Avenues last year is on trial

4:45 a.m. The trial has recessed for the day.
A man who terrorized the Avenues a year ago, allegedly committing at least two armed robberies and one rape, is on trial today for some of the charges he faces.
Jesse M. Samuel Jr. was arrested in around 5:30 a.m. Oct. 8, 2010, in the 600 block of Madison Avenue while dressed entirely in black.
About 24 hours earlier, a woman who lived at the address where Samuel had been detained by police had been raped at gunpoint in her home.
York City Police said Samuel confessed to the rape.
Samuel’s jury trial, which is to start this afternoon is for the alleged rape and loitering and prowling.
4:20 p.m.  The woman testified the man who sexually assaulted her told her he liked the way she dressed and said, “I like you with your hair down.”
The woman said when the man had confronted her on her second floor rooftop balcony, she had just gotten out of the shower and was wearing a robe with her hair wrapped in a towel.
She told the jury the man also informed her he knew she had two children.
She explained the sexual assault was him performing oral sex on her and raping her with a handgun.
After the assault, the woman and her alleged attacker returned to the balcony so the woman could smoke a cigarette.
“He said, ‘I wanted to get to know you better,'” she said. “I said ‘You didn’t pick a very good way.'”
She said, before the man left, he told her, “He would be watching me. If I called the police there would be a hostage situation with my kids and me.”
She said she later was able to describe her attacker as a black male, 5-foot, 8-inches to 5-foot, 10-inches tall, stocky and dressed entirely in black “wearing pink winter gloves. Like little girl, five finger itchy gloves.”
