Amusement Park Food at its Finest

| | Comments (0)

Last weekend I went up to Knoebels Amusement Park in Elysburg for their annual Covered Bridge Festival. Every year, 200+ crafters and vendors alike converge on the outskirts of the park and hundreds of people crowd through to peruse their wares. They also open the park's rides, minus the watery ones.

But there's another draw to Knoebels that you may not know. Amusement Today has awarded them with the Golden Ticket in Best Park Food for seven years running. This is thanks in part to the variety and the quality of their food, from pizza to pierogies. Inside the park itself you can find plenty of good eats... like their infamous potato cakes.

With the extra festivities this past weekend, a lot of outside food vendors made an impressive showing as well. Zach and I found that at Knoebels, they like convenience with their food, hence a multitude of food items on a stick.

We indulged... Zach got the sweet corn on the cob; I got the pumpkin cheesecake on a stick. It was tough, but we did it all for you. Prepare yourself for a "Food on a Stick" montage. Warning: if you are on a diet, I don't suggest you look any further.

If you want the taste of fair food without the drive, go to Dillsburg's Farmer's Fair this weekend. It looks like it'll be rainy, but the food will still be delish. My recommendations: a slice of pizza from the Boy Scout stand, a baked potato from the Band Boosters, chicken corn soup in the Fire Hall and a pumpkin funnel cake.
