The Christmas tree is sitting out for the trash.
You've already broken/worn out/returned whatever gifts Santa brought.
Without all the holiday parties and family gatherings, your social life is a little sparse.
There's really nothing to look forward to. Except spring, which is months away. Or Valentine's Day, if you're into that.
What's a soul to do?
Well, here's my Rx for the winter doldrums/post-holiday blues.
Pile into a car with all your favorite family members and/or friends and drive to the Pennsylvania State Farm Show in Harrisburg.
It's $5 to park, but admission is free, so you can wander through the complex as long as you like, mooing with the cows, sucking down heavenly milkshakes, watching the rodeo kings and people watching (you won't find this activity on the official schedule, but just find a spot, and I guarantee you won't be disappointed.)
I went on Saturday with my two sisters, my 6-month-old niece and 15-month-old nephew. Let me tell you, it was fun, but a bit of a chore. I don't have kids, but based on our experience, I'd suggest not bringing your SUV stroller unless you want to spend most of your time waiting in the elevator lines. Pack a small fold-up one you can carry up and down the stairs or escalator.
Because I can't talk about a farm show visit without telling you what we ate, here's the list:
Pork barbecue for my nephew. Chicken sandwich for my sister. Tortilla-crusted tilapia sandwich for me. An apple dumpling to go for my other sister. Heavenly chocolate milkshakes all around.
Oh, and I replenished my stock of honey hard-candies at the PA Beekeepers Association stand. They're better than cough drops when you're sick!
It runs through Saturday, so click on the link above for directions, a complete schedule of events and more. Then come back here and post a comment on your favorite thing!

No pictures of me??? Lol That's OK, I'd rather not be pictured now with my big, fat, pregnant belly anyways!!!
Oh! You should add that a special type of honey, buckwheat honey, seems to help soothe a cough in kids. Here is the link to the article in WebMD: http://www.webmd.com/cold-and-flu/news/20071203/honey-may-soothe-kids-coughs
that sounds like a ton of fun. you'll have to let us know it's coming up for next year. the milkshakes sound especially good!
