Jubilee Day report

| | Comments (0)

I did manage to escape from work a bit early to check out Jubilee Day. (it's amazing how fast I can get work done when I have a goal in mind!) I missed connecting with my sister and niece, but walked around with some girls from my book club.

I had Bricker's French Fries and a most-wonderful cappuccino ice cream with fudge swirl and toffee bits -- what a healthy dinner, eh?

Anyway, I got the ice cream not from a street vendor, but at Eckel's drug store, which is one of the few old-fashioned soda fountains left in the area. I hadn't been there in ages because the hours can be kind of weird, but I plan to go back and take some pictures and do a complete post on the place soon (when you can actually see pictures on here again!) It's definitely worth a visit.

Every year at Jubilee Day, I see at least a couple of people I know. Usually a relative of some sort or a long-lost high school friend or acquaintance.

This year the count was four: a girl I worked with at my former newspaper job, a friend from York and her husband, the girl who trained me to be a wedding photographer and the Vietnamese lady who does my nails on the rare occasions I go begging her to do something about my sorry-looking fingers.

Now, the vendors are packing up and the streets are clearing out. Eighty years of Jubilee Days down, 80 more to go?
