Late to the game

ikealogo.jpegIt seems like I'm always the last one to catch onto things.

Today, I discovered the wonderfulness (yes, I know it's not a word) of two things most of you have probably known about and enjoyed for a while now... Red Box and IKEA.

Since the closest IKEA store is in White Marsh, Md., I had never been to one before. And because I associated the brand with ultra-modern furniture, I didn't ever want to.

Today, that all changed.

I tagged along with two friends who were picking up bedroom furniture there, and I was so totally impressed.redbox.jpegWe're talking shopping carts that don't get stuck moving around corners. Friendly associates who go out of their way to help you. Clean stores and restrooms. A restaurant with yummy, inexpensive food (including Swedish meatballs).

And, good quality, well-priced items for every room in your house. Some of the styles are still too modern for my tastes, but I'm completely taken with the clean lines and organizational wonders of other pieces. Definitely worth the hour trip. I can't wait to go back.

On the way home, I stopped for groceries and decided to try the Red Box DVD rental for the first time. I don't know why it took me so long, but, once again, I was impressed by the price, simplicity, and ease of use.

If only more things in life were like this...

Loooove Ikea. Have some of thir goods, including a duvet, a bath mat, and a single bed that I no longer need. They have--or used to have a great catalog, too. Check out their Christmas decorations, etc. later this year. Some really neat wrapping paper & other stuff. Wish there was one closer to York.

I wish we had one in York or Hbg too! I picked up a catalog to drool over at home.

My couch, coffee table, lamp and dresser are all from Ikea. It's starting to look like the catalog inside my apartment. For me, it's great because the stuff is fairly affordable.

If you go, let me know. I'll go, too. I was there before I had a house, so I didn't get anything.

Will do, Nicki. If I decide to get my kitchen cabinets from there, I'm sure I'll be going quite a bit. Can pick you up as I head down 83! Angie, I'm jealous that your apartment is starting to look like an IKEA catalog!
