I just realized it has been more than two weeks since I have posted here.
But I have good reasons.
Reason No. 1 is that I am embarking upon a new adventure.
Reason No. 2 is that I came down with some mysterious seven-day summer illness (what's up with getting sick in August?)
Anyway, back to the adventure part, since that's what this blog is all about.
After exactly 10 years and four months as a full-time newspaper journalist, I'm going to try something different. At the end of this month, I will find myself standing in front of six groups of 25 inner-city high school students each day, charged with teaching them Spanish.
I'm terrified, excited, mourning, nervous, energized. Yep -- all at once.
I'm terrified I might hate it, or that I might not be a good teacher. I'm excited to try something new. I'm mourning the loss of the professional identity I've held my whole adult life. I'm nervous whether the kids will learn from or listen to me. I'm energized to be starting a new adventure.
Although I won't be at the York Daily Record offices every day, you can still find me here online, e-mail me, post comments, etc. I'll still be letting you know about all the cool things I find out about to see and do and places to check out. I'll try my best to keep you up-to-date on my new adventure as well.
So, if I lapse a bit here or there in the coming weeks, forgive me. The beginnings of new adventures always take a little extra time and mental energy. I'm sure once I get in a routine, it will be easier to post more regularly.
In the mean time, wish me luck!

Glad to hear that you plan on keeping the Blog going even though you are no longer at YDR.
I appreciate your love and dedication to your blog. As you are the first person who will be in touch with the blog though you are on the vacation. Great..
