Fair president Gene Schenck sent out a news release today that lists fair attendance by day and includes notes about each day. Thought you-all (youse? you guys? yinz?) might find it as interesting as I did.
Total attendance was 567,052, a 7 percent decrease from 2010. Schenck said he was “pleased with these results” given the economy and the weather.
Here’s the day-by-day breakdown:
Friday, 9/9: 41,872
Note: Week of tropical rains made setup challenging in days before opening. Some roads still closed from flooding. Very light drizzle on occasion, but opening day was OK weatherwise. No Grandstand show. Very good crowd late afternoon and evening.
Saturday, 9/10: 93,382
Note: Things began to dry out, and people came to the fair. With Big Time Rush on the Grandstand, the place was filled with young girls and their parents. Good rider activity in the carnival midways.
Sunday, 9/11: 39,816
Note: Grounds populated early Sunday. Decent crowd. Active carnival riders during the afternoon. High school bands parade was excellent (14 bands). Evening show with Diane Susek and PA Army National Guard was terrific, although crowd was chased by rain. Thunderstorms flushed out the dinner crowd and ended evening fun. Rides closed early.
Monday, 9/12: 41,716
Note: Beautiful, perfect day with low humidity, blue sky and comfortable temps. Harness racing on Toyota Grandstand. Free lunch admission 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Tuesday, 9/13: 87,725
Note:Warm, humid day but nice. Joan Jett on the Toyota Grandstand. Student Day very well attended. Great crowd of students. NO rowdy behavior reported.

Wednesday, 9/14: 37,320
Note:Nice warm day, but severe storms moved into areas west of the fairgrounds at Grandstand show time at 7:30 p.m. Rain and severe lightning delayed the concert start for one hour. Crowd moved into upper Grandstand until danger diminished. Toby Keith on Grandstand, he was very supportive.

Friday, 9/16: 71,392
