How churches can help returning vets

| | Comments (0)

Lancaster Theological Seminary will host two workshops March 9 about how to welcome veterans home.

The Rev. Peter E. Bauer, Aristides Fokas and Bill Worley will focus on ministry to the military from 9:30 to 11 a.m. in the seminary's Hafer Center. An afternoon session in the Santee Chapel will focus on the spiritual effects of combat trauma from 1:15 to 2:45 p.m.

The workshops are to provide information about the challenges active military troops and veterans face when transitioning back into civilian life and how churches, pastors and communities can help them through this process.

An informal luncheon in the campus refectory will allow visitors, students and staff to discuss the military chaplaincy and the need for Mainline Protestant denominations to reclaim prominence within military chaplaincy.

The seminary is at 555 W. James St. in Lancaster. For details, contact April Bupp at abupp@lancasterseminary.edu or 290-8758.
