Bishop McFadden’s new video blog

Bishop Joseph P. McFadden has recorded the first edition of what a spokesman says will be a regular video blog on the diocese’s YouTube channel.
McFadden’s message focuses on his extension of the diocesan Marian Year, which seeks to bring Catholics closer to Jesus through deeper devotion to the Virgin Mary.
Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades launched the Marian Year during a pilgrimage to the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., in October 2009 shortly before his transfer to another diocese.
The year’s observance was overshadowed by the months-long transition between bishops, so McFadden decided to extend the Marian Year by two months to Dec. 8.
Joe Aponick, a diocesan spokesman, said an upcoming video blog from McFadden will focus on the diocese’s new Matthew 25 collection at Thanksgiving, which replaces the collection parishes used to take for the U.S. bishops’ anti-poverty program.
Speaking of which, the Catholic Campaign for Human Development is trying to win back the 10 dioceses (including Harrisburg) that left the campaign, according to the National Catholic Reporter.
