Got a tip yesterday that the Rev. Ed Short, formerly of Grace Fellowship in North Codorus Township, is back with a new congregation.
Short is meeting with his new church at rented space inside the Spring Grove Community Center, my tipster said.
So I called the community center and Sandy Kreiner confirmed that Short recently began meeting there Sunday mornings with his “Crosspoint Community Church.”So I found a number for Rev. Short and spoke with his wife, Carol, last night. I expect him to call me today to fill in the details.
Short, who has served congregations in New York City and Lansing and DeWitt, Mich., had a rather short tenure as senior pastor at Grace Fellowship. Hired by Grace in 2008, Short left the church in late 2011.
Prior to Short, Grace Fellowship, which attracts about 1,200 worshipers weekly, was led by the Rev. Larry Katz for 18 years. Grace took over a year to find another pastor, recently installing the Rev. Michael Anthony.
I have heard that Short’s tenure at Grace was not smooth. I hope to learn more about what his plans are and how many people he is leading at Crosspoint.
Stay tuned. And if you have any input, email me at jhilton@ydr.com.
