Rabbittransit in negotiations for a park-and-ride lot in the Shrewsbury area; where are other park-and-ride lots needed?

If you missed it last week, a park-and-ride lot in Shrewsbury Township closed Sept. 14 because Shipley Energy plans to develop the site. It held more than 80 vehicles.

Rabbittransit is “in final negotiations with a different location for a one year term,” executive director Richard Farr said in an email Wednesday.

Plans call for a new park-and-ride lot to be built in that area, but a temporary one is needed for right now.

With the price of gas and traffic congestion, drivers have been turning to carpooling, vanpooling and riding the Rabbitexpress bus. However, not many park-and-ride lots exist around York County. And parking at shopping centers is sometimes forbidden.

Do you use park-and-ride lots? Where do you think new ones are needed?
