York County Commissioners approve contracts for flood repairs; work to begin soon

A bridge that has been closed since it sustained damage during Tropical Storm Lee last year will be fixed soon, said Steve Malesker, senior project manager with C.S. Davidson Inc.

Trinity Excavating Inc. of York will be repairing the Seitzville Road bridge on the border of Springfield and Codorus townships and as well as replacing riprap or removing debris around about a dozen other spans, he said.

York County commissioners approved contracts totaling $157, 120 during the Nov. 21 meeting for the flood repairs. The work is being funded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The repairs should start in a couple of weeks, Malesker said. Trinity Excavating knows the Seitzville Road bridge is a priority, but the contractor is not under any obligation to start with that one.

Bids for the repairs were due on Halloween, but the deadline was pushed back two weeks after Hurricane Sandy rolled through. That way bidders could see if the conditions had changed.
