Could a big winter storm be on the way for this weekend?

It’s possible, said Erik Pindrock, meteorologist with AccuWeather.com.

The company sent out a news release Monday afternoon warning of a potential, major Eastern snowstorm for the weekend.

Here’s the two scenarios that forecasters are watching with a storm that’s expected to develop:

Scenario 1: The storm would move up the Atlantic Coast and bring snow to the area, Pindrock said. It could be a significant one for someone in the mid-Atlantic or Northeast.  The snow would arrive sometime Saturday or Sunday.

Scenario 2: The storm would go out to sea, and it would be dry, cold and partly sunny, Pindrock said.

“I think it’s something certainly that needs to be watched,” he said.

In the meantime, about one to three inches of snow is predicted for Wednesday afternoon, Pindrock said.
