Newberry Township Police releases video on K-9, Tazer, in action

Newberry Township Police posted this video of its K-9 Tazer to the department’s Facebook page earlier this week. The responses were all positive for the unique work that Tazer does within the department.

Tazer’s handler, Officer Chris Martinez, has worked with the dog since he was brought on to the department years ago. In addition to sniffing out drugs and helping the officers chase down alleged criminals, Tazer is used during educational demonstrations at area schools.

According to the department’s Facebook page,┬áTazer was purchased through fundraisers without using any tax dollars. The dog and training cost about $14,000. “Although expensive, the program has been a complete success,” an official with the department wrote. “Mostly due to the hard work of many of the officers and especially Officer Christopher Martinez. No one has any idea how much time and effort Officer Martinez put into the dog and training which our department and citizens benefit from.”

Check out the video and keep an eye on the police department’s Facebook page for more info about Tazer.
