God almighty, Wii at last!

Christmas came and went uneventfully this year. There was no Nintendo Wii under my tree, just an I.O.U. from the 'rents who had tried their best to track one down, but to no avail. For weeks, I have hunted high and low, near and far, in search of my elusive Wii, especially knowing that when the time came, I wouldn't have to pay for it. That always helps.

Check out my recent Popeye column to bring you up to speed on the hunt.

Anyway, yesterday the gaming gods smiled down upon me, and my hunt came to a close - Toys R Us received nine systems in minutes before I called in the early afternoon.

My co-worker, Andrea (who has also been on the hunt) and I booked it over to the store, which, luckily for us, was about a two minute drive from our office. We got there, got our Wiis and left with big ol' grins on our faces.

Last night, I was pretty much a waste of life as I set up my Wii and spent a few hours swinging my "Wiimote" around like a bat, bowling ball, tennis racket, sling shot, sword and more. Let me tell you, I felt TOTALLY COOL doing it all by myself in the confines of my apartment, too. I'm sure I didn't look like an ass at all. Really.

But that's what makes the thing so freakin' fun. I'm playing video games in a way I never have before. Sure, PlayStation 3 games are a little more dazzling visually, but nothing quite beats jabbing my controller forward and watch Link stab his sword into the belly of some orc-looking create.

"Zelda" starts off a bit slow, but picked up once I got to start swinging my sword around. And the "Wii Sports" game that comes packaged with the system was actually a lot more fun than I expected. I am now highly anticipating Wednesday night, the night a number of co-workers get together for our weekly board game night (yeah, yeah, laugh it up). This week, we're having a Wii Night, and my hopes are that someone leaves with a black eye. With all the controller swinging that's going to be going on, it's unavoidable. And I can't wait.

Hah, my friend Francis and I get together on Wednesday night for video game night. I was lucky enough to get my Wii before Christmas, and I'm still not tired of Wii Sports.

If I can make a recommendation for your board game night... get Wario Ware Smooth Moves. It's a riot and, once you've completed single player mode, you unlock multiplayer which supports something like 12 players at once.

Oh, and some of the stuff you have to do makes you look like an idiot.

Cars and houses are quite expensive and not everyone can buy it. But, personal loans was created to aid different people in such hard situations.
