There aren't too many perks to being FlipSide Editor, let's just get that out in the opening. So the perks that do exist, I intend to take full advantage.

Umphrey's McGee. A lot of albums come through the office from both up-and-coming and been-around-the-block-a-few-times bands. Take a listen to "Higgins." (Note: The video is from an outdoor concert.)

McGee's new album, "The Bottom Half," is worth a listen. (Maybe even a download.) The songs are a mix of eclectic sounds from Maroon 5-like vocals to Jimmy Buffett-like carefree beats. My favorite songs are "The Bottom Half" and "Memories of Home." (But they're all great, actually.)

If you want to check them out in concert, the band will be playing at Sonar, 407 E. Saratoga St., Baltimore, at 9 p.m. July 26. Tickets are $22.50. For details, call 410-327-8333.
