So I know I’m a little late to the party, but I just finished a marathon session of the “Heroes — Season One” DVD. And it was awesome.
I didn’t get to watch the show last season, so I decided to pick up the DVDs from Blockbuster and finish all 23 episodes by tonight’s premiere. It took several days, but I’m finally done.
And, like everyone else who did get to watch the show during the season, I’m hooked.
I think I didn’t watch “Heroes” last season because I thought it was too sci-fi for my tastes. But the show is so much more than that.
Here’s my take on “Heroes”:
I’m really intrigued by the Peter Petrelli character (what great hair). I like the complexity of his relationship with his brother, Nathan.
I think Hiro Nakamura is so adorable and find some of the funniest lines of the show come from his and Ando’s adventures.
I could probably do without the Jessica/Niki’s storyline. I just find myself so disinterested in what happens to her.
I was really freaked out about Claire’s dad, Mr. Bennett, at first. But he’s turned out to be a standup guy.
The writers do a really good job of weaving all the stories together. Each of the characters has their own distinct plotlines, but it’s great to see how they are all connected. (I love that Claire is Nathan’s daughter and that Molly, the hero tracker, was the little girl Matt Parkman saved earlier in the season.)
I also really like finding out which characters have powers. It’s the first thing I think when I see a new character come on the show.
There’s a lot of unanswered questions I still have:
Does Mrs. Petrelli have powers?
Is Mr. Linderman really dead?
How did Sylar survive the showdown with Peter (come on, you know he’s coming back this season).
So now that I’m caught up, I can’t wait to plop down in front of the TV tonight to see what happens.

I can relate. I am pushing to get in all the Grey's Anatomy DVDs before Thursday's premiere. It's not looking promising.
