Planet Green and more TV

I used to have a life. It wasn't hard to pull myself away from a TV with only four channels, one of which came in almost clear. But alas, I moved in with my spouse and giving up analog TV for satellite TV, 50 million channels worth, was one of our compromises.

I was afraid this would happen. Sometimes it's harder to run, ride my bike or head to the gym, when I get sucked onto the couch and enthralled with the 13-year stomach ache or the bizarre sleeping disorder on "Mystery Diagnosis" or tree-branch-through-the-motorcycle-helmet guy on "Trauma: Life in the E.R."

I guess it's better than vegging out in front of "Bridezillas" on WeTV or old episodes of "Saved by the Bell" on WGN.

With channels like Biography, Discovery and History, I've learned more about medicine and crazy genetic disorders than I needed to know. I've seen the sinking of a Naval aircraft carrier and a competition between a gas and electric snowmobile.

So I guess if I am missing some of my heart pumping workouts, I can be proud that the TV is pumping my brain cells.

And to make me even more knowledgeable, Discovery is launching Planet Green, a channel dedicated to being environmentally friendly in June. Check your TV provider for details.
