'Sex and the City' as I had hoped
"Sex and the City" opens in theaters today and a bunch of girls from work are going to see it tonight. I couldn't wait. In the past two weeks, I've bought - and read - "Sex and the City Kiss and Tell" and bought - and watched - season 2, which adds to my collection of seasons 1, 5 and 6. Waiting until tonight to see the movie just wasn't good enough.
My friend Sarah and I joined a full theater of people at 12:01 a.m. to see the first showing in the area. There were women dressed to the nines, some in pajamas and way more men than I had expected to see. People clapped when the previews started. When the opening credits rolled. When the girls first appeared on screen. When they zinged one-liners. When they stood up for each other. And especially when the movie ended.
I laughed and cried through the whole thing, and realized that these characters from a show that I loved so much were now characters in a movie that I loved just as much. It stays true to the TV show and what you read in reviews might be a little true - it's self-indulgent at times and materialistic always. But isn't that what we all loved about the show? Those girls love each other, they love their men and they love themselves. Sarah and I both agreed, we couldn't have imagined it being any more perfect.
So now, if I can stay awake the whole day, I can't wait to share the experience with my friends from work!

OK, it was awesome. I laughed, i cried, i thought they looked significantly older w/ the exception of Kristin Davis. Miranda annoyed me though. She never annoyed me before.
Thanks for coming to MD for the show!
