YLT hits a high note with 'Dreamgirls.'

I went to see York Little Theatre's production of "Dreamgirls" Thursday night.
The show wrapped up YLT's 75th season.
The leads blew me away with their voices. Effie White (Desiree King) and C.C. White (Tomi Webber) were the show stoppers. King didn't outshine Jennifer Hudson's Oscar-winning performance, but she came pretty darn close. When King belted out "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going," I got chills.
James Early (Jordan Way) had many scene stealing songs too. He really got the audience into the show by adding a touch of humor and a whole lot of soul.
Deena Jones (Leea Toney) and Curtis Taylor Jr. (Roderick Bell) were also phenomenal.
The costumes were great. They really captured the groovy feel of the '70s. There were almost too many wardrobe changes to count.
Overall it was a fun, music-filled night. I'm thankful that there's a local venue that presents popular and relevent shows.
